Reading made comfortable for everyone

Every eBook on eBookYou can be read the way that works for your eyes — or listened to instead. Nothing to install: it all works in your web browser, and your choices are remembered on your device.

In the eBook reader

Open any eBook or free sample and tap Aa (Settings):

• Large print — text from 12px up to 60px. On a keyboard, press + and −.
• Easy-read fonts — Atkinson Hyperlegible, designed by the Braille Institute for low vision, and Lexend, designed to reduce visual stress and liked by many dyslexic readers. Or bold text in any font.
• Any background — white, cream, paper, pale yellow, peach, sepia, tan, soft green, green, soft blue, navy, grey, brown, dusk, night, black, or any colour you pick.
• Any text colour, and one-tap high-contrast pairs: yellow on black, white on black, black on white, black on yellow and white on navy.
• Spacing — line spacing up to extra wide, wider letter and word spacing, and a narrow column so lines stay short.
• Focus mode — dims everything except the paragraph you are reading.
• Read aloud — studio narrators or your device's voices, with speed and pitch, the current paragraph highlighted, and playback that carries on when your phone is locked.

Across the site

Use the Accessibility button at the bottom of every page for larger text, high contrast, the easy-read font and underlined links on every page of the site. The site works with screen readers and keyboards, respects your device's “reduce motion” setting, and every eBook's text is real text, never pictures of words.

Comics

Comics are pictures, so the text options above do not apply to them; you can still zoom with your browser and choose the background.

Tell us what doesn't work

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. If anything on eBookYou is hard to use for you, please tell us — we read every message and will help you read the eBook you bought.
